I have a yearling miniature horse and a 15 year old quarter horse. I got them this spring, and they have NEVER been bored. With no pasture now and shorter days, they get bored easier. I’d like to get them some toys or things to do, because they’re both very smart and need to keep their mind entertained. They have a soccer ball and a Jolly Ball and do nothing with them. What are some homemade or store bought toys they might be interested in playing with, chewing on, rolling around, etc.?

A sheet or tarp hanging on a fence is usually an invitation to tear it up. That can give them hours of entertainment. And you too as you walk around picking up the pieces!

A single dog can be great fun for horses to chase.

You can put cube treats in a plastic jug without a lid and let them roll it around and play with it to get the treats. Don’t use loose grain though. You don’t want them eating dirt to get a grain or two of oats. Use cube treats. A rubber feed pan can also make for hours of entertainment as they carry it around and rip it apart.
